Special Needs

Vacation Programs

Families who have a child with a disability often experience ongoing stress. Because of the additional care required, families identify respite care as a basic necessity, with the need increasing as the child gets older. Families who report less stress usually are the recipients of formal support services, such as respite care. Respite care for families who have a child with a disability helps maintain family stability and may provide opportunities for the child to participate in special activities.

Our innovative vacation respite programs are carefully designed to meet the individual needs of the participants. A participant intake and questionnaire are required prior to registering for the program. Children and teens who are in mainstream or inclusion classes may participate with their typical peers in collaboration with our Children's Services Department. Children and teens that may need more individualized attention and supervision may be placed in our self-contained classes. Programs begin at 10:00 am and run until 3:30 pm. A typical day includes arts & crafts, music, gym, swim, sensory based activities and specialty programs such as yoga, karate and more! Before and after-care may be available on an as-needed basis.
