Support Groups And Counseling
Support groups at the Mid-Island Y JCC offer participants a confidential and safe environment to express their innermost feelings during periods of loss and transition.
Bereavement:
Groups are small and intimate for those who have lost spouses, parents or other loved ones. Each group is facilitated by licensed social workers and run throughout the year. Topics include stress management, impact of loss and healing skills. Closed groups offer participants a supportive, structured, safe and social setting to express their feelings.
Separated & Divorced:
Groups are small and intimate for those experiencing the challenges that come with separation and divorce. Share experiences, feeling and resources with each other and thus, support one another through the common stages of becoming a single person.
Counseling:
Individual counseling facilitates the exploration and resolution of personal issues according to the needs of the individual. Offered at no cost to the client, these one-on-one counseling sessions are facilitated by mater’s level social work students who consult with professional social workers.
